  • The two Contradictory Aspects of Capitalism:
    1. Demand Crisis: companies try to deal with their economic crises by paying their workers less so that they have less costs. But then the workers have less income and thus can't afford to buy the company's product. The companies end up not being able to achieve a profit. The greater the produced profits and the exploitation of labor (decreased wages, companies produce more with less people in less time), the smaller the realized profits and demand.
    2. Cost Crisis: If costs of labor, nature, infrastructure, and space increase significantly, this crisis may originate in one of two ways:
    a) if infrastructure and material conditions of capitals' own production are not maintained, a decrease in productivity of conditions for production will result.
    b) if social movements demand that capital better provide for maintenance and restoration for conditions of life (better health care, protest ruination of soils, etc.).
