Guide to creating a story board (USP 2008 Urban Expo XVIII) On Thursday, March 13th, you must set up your poster in Ballroom of UCSD's Price Center between 8:30am and 10:00am. Doors open to the public at 10:00am. In lieu of our regular class meeting, we will all meet at our regular time in the Price Center Ballroom at 2:00pm. From 2:00pm to 2:30pm we will have a reception with food and drinks. This gives us time to mingle with family and friends who will be there to see your work. At 2:30pm our formal ceremony begins, starting with a warm welcome by Professor Steve Erie (Director, USP). On behalf of the USP Program, Keith Pezzoli will announce the winners of USP's Awards. The key note address will be given by William R. (Bil) Anderson, the Director of Planning and Community Investment for the City of San Diego. You'll need to pack up and take your poster home with you. Nothing can be stored. Tracey Hughes, GIS Coordinator at the SS&H Library, has agreed to print your posters ---PROVIDING THAT IT CONTAINS A GIS COMPONENT, AND THAT YOU GET IT TO HER (in .pdf format) by Thursday, March 6, at 8:30am. After successfully delivering your file to Tracey Hughes <t2hughes@ucsd.edu>, you will be able to pick up your printed posted in the Geisel GIS Lab between 10am - 2:30pm on Wed., March 12th. Tracey, the Geisel GIS Lab Assistants, or an SSH Library staff member will be there to hand the poster over to you. The Geisel GIS Lab is located in the main floor, West Wing of the Geisel Library. http://govinfo.ucsd.edu/gis/aboutlab.html
Tracey is offering assistance on how to use GIS, and providing access to online GIS courses. You should seriously consider taking advantage of this "free" opportunity. For details about the GIS training sessions see our class blog.
If you are printing your poster from the Geisel GIS Lab, your poster size CANNOT be wider than 36 inches. The length can be up to 40" or 50" (a good size would be 36"x40"). Some of you may choose to use a trifold poster board and will need to adjust your print output accordingly.
